George Toriello sent me this information on Arthur Edward Schelle on January 5, 2020: Arthur Edward Schelle is not on the Hackensack High School Original Wall Unit, but his name is on the Plaque at City Hall, which lists those men who gave the supreme sacrifice during World War II. The Federal Census records show that He may have already been in the Navy, but we cannot confirm that with the information we have to date. Military records show he served in the U.S. Navy and rose to the rank of Seaman Second Class and served on board the USS Franklin (CV-13). Arthur Edward Schelle was killed in Action on March 19, 1945 for which he received the Purple Heart.
